Clarity Session Terms and Information

What is a Clarity Session?

A Clarity Session is a focused, 20-minute consultation designed to help you better understand a relational, intimate or sexual function concern and identify the most appropriate next steps.

These sessions are intended to provide an opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, gain specialist insight and explore what forms of support may be most beneficial for you moving forward.

Clarity Sessions are particularly useful if you:

  • Are unsure whether psychosexual or relationship therapy is right for you.

  • Would like a professional perspective on a concern before committing to ongoing therapy.

  • Are looking for guidance on where to begin.

  • Would like help identifying possible contributing factors to a difficulty.

  • Want to understand what support options may be available.

What a Clarity Session Is Not

Due to the limited duration of the session, a Clarity Session is not intended to provide:

  • Ongoing therapy

  • A comprehensive, in depth psychosexual assessment

  • Diagnosis of any medical, psychological or neurodevelopmental conditions

  • Crisis intervention or emergency support

  • Detailed treatment planning

  • Medico-legal reports, letters or opinions

  • Formal recommendations for third parties

Whilst we may discuss potential contributing factors and possible next steps, a Clarity Session should not be considered a substitute for ongoing therapeutic, medical or further specialist support where this is indicated.

Session Format

Clarity Sessions are delivered online and last approximately 20 minutes.

Sessions may be attended by an individual or, where appropriate, by partners together.

To help make the best use of session time, you are asked to complete a brief pre-session questionnaire before your appointment. This is managed through a secure online platform called Quenza. Once you have booked your appointment, a personalised pre-assessment ‘flow’ is constructed for you, and the link and login details for your Quenza access will follow. It is important that the pre-assessment is completed prior to our session together.

Following the Session

Following your session, you receive a brief written summary outlining:

  • Key themes discussed

  • Factors that may be contributing to your concerns

  • Suggested next steps

  • Relevant information, resources or recommendations for products and/or services

Any information provided is intended for educational and informational purposes and should not be considered a diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for medical advice.

Suitability

Clarity Sessions are not suitable for every concern.

Where appropriate, I may recommend alternative services, medical assessment, specialist support or a different therapeutic approach if I believe these would better meet your needs.

I reserve the right to decline or discontinue work where I believe the service is unlikely to be beneficial, falls outside my scope of practice, or would be better addressed elsewhere.

Professional Standards and Ethics

I am a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and Registered Nurse.

My work is therefore guided by the professional and ethical standards of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).

I work in an inclusive, non-judgemental, and evidence-informed manner with individuals and relationships of all genders, sexualities, relationship structures, cultural backgrounds and identities.

Confidentiality

Information shared during your session will always be treated confidentially.

There are, however, circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken. These include:

  • Serious concerns regarding your safety or the safety of another person.

  • Concerns regarding the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult.

  • Other legal obligations requiring disclosure.

Where possible and appropriate, any decision to share information will be discussed with you beforehand.

Couples and Joint Sessions

Where a session is attended by more than one person, the session is considered a shared space.

Information that is disclosed during joint sessions may be explored openly where relevant to the work being undertaken.

I do not generally operate a "secrets policy" within couple or relationship work. Information disclosed privately by one partner that is directly relevant to the work may affect my ability to continue working with the relationship if it cannot be discussed openly.

Data Protection and Record Keeping

Brief, contemporaneous clinical notes will be maintained following your session in accordance with professional, ethical and legal requirements.

Records are stored securely and managed in accordance with UK data protection legislation. I am registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (Registration Ref ZB350323) and abide by all required regulations.

Further information regarding how your information is collected, stored, and processed can be found in the Privacy Policy.

Fees and Payment

Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Appointments are not confirmed or held until payment has been received.

All fees are displayed on my website at NiaJane.com, and booking platform Calendly.

Cancellation, Rescheduling, and Refunds

Appointments cancelled with more than 48 hours' notice may be rescheduled or refunded.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are generally non-refundable.

Missed or ‘no-show’ appointments are non-refundable.

However, I understand that exceptional circumstances can and do arise, and therefore may consider exceptions to this policy at my discretion.

If in the unlikely event I need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you will be offered an alternative appointment or a full refund.

Late Attendance

I am able to see late arrivals for up to 5mins following the appointment start time, however if you are later than this we will need to look to reschedule.

The session will still finish at the scheduled time. Unfortunately, additional time cannot be added on to compensate for late attendance.

Online Sessions

Clients are responsible for ensuring they have:

  • Access to a suitable device.

  • A stable internet connection.

  • A private and confidential environment for the session.

If significant technical difficulties occur, reasonable efforts will be made to continue the session via an alternative method such as phonecall - or arrange an alternative appointment where appropriate.

Communication

Clarity Sessions do not include ongoing therapeutic support between appointments, however administrative emails and booking enquiries are welcomed.

I aim to respond to email enquiries within 48 working hours.

Emergencies and Crisis Support

Clarity Sessions are not an emergency service and should not be used in place of urgent medical, psychological or safeguarding support.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, feel unable to keep yourself safe or require urgent assistance, please contact:

  • Your GP

  • NHS 111

  • Emergency Services (999)

  • Your local Crisis Team

or another appropriate emergency service.

Complaints

If you have concerns about any aspect of the service provided, I encourage you to raise them with me in the first instance so that we can attempt to resolve the matter informally.

Information regarding the formal complaints process is available on request.

By booking and attending a Clarity Session, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms and Information.

  • You understand the purpose and limitations of a Clarity Session.
